Did you know that Good Bread Alley began as a solo show? But then April spent a week in the South Florida Black Archives learning about 1926 Miami and the great hurricane and re-wrote it as a multi-character, period play with Gullah & Afro Cuban music, dance & myth in the course of a weekend?
Good Bread Alley written by April Yvette Thompson had its first public reading at New York Stage & Film with LaChanze, Seth Gilliam, Hubert Pont du Jour, Keith Randolph Smith, Tamela Aldridge, Angela Lewis, Liza Colon Zayas, Elvis Nolasco directed by Jessica Blank and stage directions by Lee Colston.
